Let it Snow! Swing Card

Let it snow...but not yet! Let's enjoy autumn.

For today's card I used the Peaceful Prints DSP. I love Stampin' Up's double-sided paper.

Of course the little critters from the Penguin Playmates had to make an appearance.

This card is called a swing card. When the card is opened the centerpiece swings so that it is visible on the inside. I saw the tutorial on Lisa's Stamp Studio https://lisasstampstudio.com/2021/09/diy-handmade-pop-out-swing-card-tutorial.html

The 'Let it Snow' sentiment is from the Snowman Season stamp set, available in the Annual Catalogue 2021-2022

Have you started your Christmas/Holiday cards yet?

Until next time.

Sweet Treats

How cute are these treats? And no calories!

These yummy desserts are from the Sweets and Treats stamp set.

I fussy cut them out and adhered them to a circle embossed with the Painted Texture folder.

I used a neutral background, from the Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper  from the Sale- a -Bration catalogue,  in order to showcase the delectable delights.

Remember the Sale-a-Bration catalogue runs to the end of September so get your orders in!

Until next time.

Pop Up Box Card

Sometimes coming up with ideas for cards is difficult. When I get to the point where I lose my mojo, I go back to cards I’ve already made for inspiration. This pop up box card is one of my favourite fun folds. It’s so easy to make and the colour combinations are endless.

This time I used the Whimsy and Wonder DSP. This DSP is one of my favourites because of the soft non traditional Christmas colours.

Whenever you get stuck for ideas, look back to a card that really spoke to you. Change the colours, embellishments and sentiments and you have a brand new card.

This is the card I chose to copy from my stash.

Until next time.

Sweet Stockings

You gotta love Stampin’ Up’s cute DSP. Sweet Stockings has adorable  animals for the festive season. Dogs, cats, mice and even a hamster…a pet for everyone! I’ve added this DSP to another fun fold card.

There is plenty of space on the back for a personal sentiment.

This card measures 5 1/2”x 4 1/4”
Front of the card.
Base: Pool Party 8 1/2”x 5 1/2”, scored at 2” and 3 1/8” at each end.
DSP: cut 2 side panels at 5 1/4”x 1 3/4” and 5 1/4”x 2” for the center panel

Back of the card.
DSP: cut 2 side panels at 5 1/4”x 1 3/4” and 5 1/4”x 2” basic white for the center panel
Adhere your image to any shaped layers desired.

Until next time.

Misty Moonlight meets Harvest Meadow

I love SU’s Misty Moonlight. It’s perfect for feminine or masculine cards. For this card Misty Moonlight card stock is the base for Harvest Meadow DSP. I didn’t want the DSP to be the focal point so I softened the look with some vellum cut from the Color and Contour scalloped dies.  Now the focal point is the sentiment and the stamped flower from Flowering Blossoms. Don’t you just love the little bee embellishment?

Until next time….

Triangle Fold Card

Fun folds add such interest to cards. I don't know why I've never made this fun fold. It's so easy. Just one cut and two scores lines.

From an 8.5" x 11" sheet of card stock you can make 2 cards.

Here's the recipe:
Card stock base: 8.5" x 11" piece of card stock, score at 4.25" then rotate and score at 5.5". With the card stock in the portrait position (the 8.5" side at the top), cut diagonally from one corner to the other ** note that the card stock will be too large to fit into the SU trimmer ( I used an exacto knife and a ruler). Burnish the score lines and decorate with DSP, a sentiment and  embellishments as desired. A 4"x 5.25" piece of Basic White on the inside of the card provides lots of room for a sentiment.

For this card I used the Penguin Playmates DSP and Soft Seafoam card stock. I added a Wonderful Snowflake and Opal Rounds for some texture.

Give this fun fold a try, it's perfect for any occasion.

Until next time....

Embossing paste

Here’s a tip…..embossing paste doesn’t last forever. I pulled mine out today and it was all dried up. Note to self, use it more often. So, what to use instead. I’ve been starting some projects around the house and purchased some spackling compound…the kind you fill holes in drywall with. Would that work? What have I got to lose. So I spread the compound over the stencil in a thin coat. To my surprise it worked very well.

The compound goes on pink but dries white.

You can bet I’ll try this with other stencils.

Until next time…

Let it Snow

Let it snow but not just yet, although during those hot, humid days this summer I would have welcomed a bit of snow😂.

For today’s card I used the Snowman Season stamp set. I’ve added the shimmery snowflakes for some texture.

The image layer was cut out using the Color and Contour dies.

Lots of room inside the card for a personal message.

Until next time…
